Mestizo Cigars

Details:
Client: Mestizo Cigars
Location: Panama City
Mestizo is a Panama City-based tobacco brand specializing in the hand-rolling of cigars for local and international clients. Each of their cigar flavors is founded and developed from the rich history of the colonization of South America and the races that played a role in that history, "White, Black, and Half-Breed" ("Blanco, Negro y Cholo").

The brand needed to establish itself as a leading cigar brand in a market that includes well-known global brands such as Plasencia and Cohiba.

For this purpose, I chose to create a distinct wordmark that would pair perfectly with each of the tobacco flavors. The original Indian emblem was changed and extended to represent each of the ethnicities reflected in their product line; to achieve this, I designed various headsets to represent the origins of each ethnic group. Subsequently, I devised a pattern for the tobacco ring's background that would depict numerous components from South America's rich past. To continue emphasizing the history of colonization, each skin tone, white, black, and red, served as inspiration for the color palette.
